Special Educational Needs

SEND Information Report

The SEND Information Report provides information for children, young people and their parents/carers in a single place, helping them to understand what services they and their families can expect from a range of local agencies. This was introduced as part of the Children and Families Bill which became law in 2014.

The aim of the SEND Information Report is to improve choice and transparency for families about the services they use. By setting this information out in one place, this will also help the joint commissioning of services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

The Local Authority will work together with children, young people, parents, carers and other local services to develop their offer and keep it under review.

SEND - Local Offer

All North Yorkshire maintained schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND.)   They are supported by the Local Authority to ensure that all pupils, whatever their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school.   The Local Authority publishes its Local Offer which provides information for children and young people with special educational needs (SEND) and their parents or carers in a single place.
