Mr Evans took our fabulous Years 4, 5 and 6 on a residential visit to Peat Rigg Outdoor Centre, alongside Ruswarp C of E school as part of a RISE Federation residential trip. They had an amazing time! This was the Year 4/5 children’s first ever residential and they were supported by our Year 6 children who are seasoned veterans on residential trips! The children worked on skills such as developing a growth mindset, confidence and self-esteem, teamwork and improving relationships, determination and resilience and of course the chance to appreciate and learn about the natural environment.
All of this was done through their enthusiastic participation in numerous different outdoor activities. They children tried their hands at archery, low zipline, crate stack, obstacle courses, tree climbing and caving.
The children were a shining representation of Seton School throughout and were polite, kind to each other, encouraging and willing to push themselves forward in order to flourish. We’re very proud of them!
For the past two academic years, Class 4 have taken their residential at Carlton Adventure. Situated just over an hour away from Seton, Carlton-in-Cleveland is an idyllic village surrounded by green hills and stunning scenery.
Whilst the children are away, they get involved with numerous activities designed to challenge and stretch them in a variety of ways. Activities include canoeing, archery, climbing, orienteering, high ropes, gully walking, forest adventure skills and many more. Alongside this, the children are expected to learn to develop their independence and teamwork abilities by following the site rules and making sure their rooms are tidied every day, making their own packed lunches and clearing the food hall after use.
As you can see from the photos, the children thoroughly enjoy their time away (even the ones who were initially nervous about being away from home for a week). They always come back to school having gained independence, resilience and strengthened friendships and bonds between their classmates and staff.
